In the most amazing news on this wonderful planet that we live on?

It only took over 70 days.

BUT WE HAD REAL RAIN.

Yep.

Rain with drops that cover things in water.

And so today, to celebrate? I want to share my fall front porch.

Not to brag, but Westleigh told me it was aesthetic. I think it’s called grandmacore or granny chic (which, at the risk of pointing out the obvious, is very fitting because I am about to be a grandma).

I just thought I was bringing back 80s mauve and making it a thing for fall.

And I came up with the CUTEST (and affordable) idea to take fall front porch decorating TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

Because now?

My front porch looks like this.

// champagne velvet ribbon for wreath //

Can you see it?

Right there at the top?

My kind of brilliant next-level fall porch decorating idea?

(Total aside: before we get to the brilliant idea, I want to point out that I made my own doormat. You can see the doormat DIY here.)

I tied baskets to the garland.

Three little tiny woven baskets on each side.

I used velvet ribbon and filled them with extra pieces of the garland.

But wait.

I’m getting ahead of myself.

It’s like this is a really good book and I just skipped to the ending.

Because this is where it started.

It started here when I found these faux mums.

They come in a set of two, and I added them to the DIY monogrammed planters I have on either side of the front door.

You can see a close-up of the flowers here.

They truly look amazing by themselves.

But why have extra amazing when they could be NEXT LEVEL?

So I found some light pink mums that I already had and added them to the arrangement.

You can see similar mauve chrysanthemums here.

But why stop there I told myself?

I think the arrangement needs pink velvet pumpkins and artichokes and wood bead stems.

You can see the faux artichoke stems here.

You can see similar mauve velvet pumpkins here.

And I kept going and adding until I was LITERALLY IN LOVE.

And then I found this wreath.

You can see the wreath here.

Apples? Yes, please. Five different types of foliage? Yes, please. Red berries? Yes, please.

There is so much going on with this wreath, and I’m here for all of it.

I adjusted it slightly and took out a few of the darker flowers and added these light pink mums into the wreath instead.

// white pumpkin and maple leaf garland //

Now it was time for the garland.

I knew I wanted something flowery and pink—a kind of fallified version of a summer garland.

So I found this garland with the cutest white pumpkins and maple leaves.

You can see it here.

// brown velvet ribbon //

I used two garlands on this door.

Here’s a close-up of the garland.

Again—I added those same pink mums to add more color and make it match the wreath and the fall arrangements on either side of the door.

And then I stepped back to look at it.

It needed something.

Something special.

Something amazing.

Something I’ve never added to a front porch before.

And then the idea popped into my head.

Tiny baskets from brown velvet ribbon.

You can see the brown velvet ribbon here.

Would it work? Could it work? Would it even look cute?

And so this is where Westleigh found me.

She walked outside when she saw the ladder.

And literally clapped her hands and told me how cute it was and that the baskets were the perfect idea.

And aesthetic.

And granny chic.

(Which was exactly the look I was going for that I didn’t know had a name).

And could she take my picture to send to her friends?

So she snapped this.

And then she told me I needed a better smile instead of a smile that says, “Please take my picture and then leave me alone to create something amazing with these baskets.”

I told her no more pictures.

She was interrupting the creative process.

I needed to finish the porch.

After all.

Grandma chic is nothing without a creative grandma just trying to add one more basket. 🙂
